Poker tells
are some of the most important things when you’re playing poker, you should
learn how to read the other players moves in order to know how your opponents think
during the game. Every player ha a different style and different tells,
sometimes one single player can mutate and react differently every time as part
of his/her strategy, but once you have the chance to play several times with
the same player or players you will start recognizing certain signs and
reactions that can give you important hints about a player’s strategy or way to
play. You can also use this information to set up your way of playing, you
can learn from your own mistakes how the other players react in front of a
determinate situation and establish a playing system. Now, no one said this is
easy, to be a good reader in a poker game takes many years of practice, a poker
tell can help a lot during a game, but the first thing you have to learn is the
game basics and how the different plays and strategy work. There’re many things
more than just knowing the basics, a good player knows when is the appropriate
time to call, raise and fold. Honestly there’s nothing more important than
that.
But let’s
say you have already spent a good couple of years playing and that you already
know your own tricks. Everybody knows that every living human has something
called body language, this is a series of gestures, expressions, sudden
reactions and corporal motions that are used depending on the stimulus, certain
events or emotions are able to unchain a series of reactions that are
unconsciously repeated. This certainly occurs to any one who plays poker
since the game can be a really exciting experience for the players. When
this is the case, poker players can react making facial gestures or exhibit
certain habits when a particular type of card is dealt. Good players can
note even the small detail or reaction on an opponent, knowing when some one is
bluffing and when the opponent has a good hand.
A poker tell is a behavioral pattern
a that can indicate you how a players handles certain hands and how he or she
reacts under a particular situation. People are instinctual beings, and are prone
to react accordingly to the situation they are passing through, we all have
natural responses to specific situations, and poker is no exception. This
is why many poker players hide their gestures behind sunglasses, hats, turtle
neck sweaters, etc, etc. When playing,
you should always try to keep the same gesture and position also known as a
poker face. This is done to keep your facial expressions from betraying
you, reducing your poker tells will also help make your bluffs more believable,
as it is hard to convince someone you have a great hand if you are frowning
when attempting to do so. Instead, show your love for the game, as well
as your ability to play it well. You are playing to win, so make it your
own.
