David “The Dragon” Pham named POY

David Pham, the renamed professional
poker player and winner of the 8th stage of the Bellagio Five
Diamond World Poker Classic was recently named Player of The Year. This is an award
that started ten years ago and that honors the player who gets the best results
over the year. “The POY point system is based on
poker tournament finishes throughout the year and is a benchmark used
throughout the poker industry to measure accomplishments on the felt. We at
Card Player Media would like to congratulate David Pham for his exceptional
accomplishment.” explains Barry Shulman, representative from Card Player Media.
This award is past winners
include acclaimed players such as Daniel Negreanu, Michael Mizrachi, Men “The Master”
Nguyen and T.J. Cloutier. Only Men Nguyen and T.J. Cloutier have multiple
titles with four and two respectively. “The Dragon” took the over the rankings lead
in August and never left the first position during the remaining months of 2007. David Pham finished with a total of 6,562 points with J.C. Tran only 814 points behind.
