Getting
married in Las Vegas is an American tradition
just like the apple pie or the Super Bowl barbeques, for decades; couples have
traveled all the way to Las Vegas
to find cheap, quick and comfortable wedding chapels while they enjoy from all
the thrill and chill offered by the city's unique lifestyle. Las Vegas and the State of Nevada
have issued millions of marriage licenses since the first days of Sin City, the
amount of available chapels in the city have increased due the people’s
interest and freedom of choice, the variety of choices is wide and you can make
your wedding way more interesting with Elvis presiding weddings, S&M themed
weddings, drive-through chapels or simply have the traditional outdoor ceremony
packed with guests. But somehow, the people’s interest is apparently going down,
the Clark County,
which includes Las Vegas,
reported that only during last year the county issued 107,000 marriage licenses
less than the previous year, which represents the lowest number in over ten
years and signifies 5% drop in comparison to 2006 and a 15% drop from 2004.
However, nobody
disputes that Las Vegas
still the
Wedding Capital of the World, even when the numbers have dropped
significantly. Las Vegas outstand other popular wedding
destination such as Hawaii, Jamaica or Bahamas. Viva Las Vegas Wedding
Chapel main owner, Mr. Ron DeCar, said that almost half his business now comes
from couples renewing vows. The Las Vegas wedding consultants and the
Nevada Wedding Association remain optimistic about what’s going to happen this
year, the drop in the number of the Las Vegas weddings is not exclusive from
the state of Nevada, several other states have also reported a similar
situation and recent statistics show that more people in the U.S is getting
married abroad, postponing marriage or skipping it entirely.
