The Las Vegas developers are
not reserving anything for the future; the extraordinary investment of over $40
billion in infrastructure, mostly high-end projects from big corporations is expected
to increase the tourism incomes by at least 15% on 2012. A new tourism slogan “Your
Vegas is showing" was recently unveiled in TV and print ads. The new advertising
campaign focuses on the city's standing as one of the most exclusive shopping
locations in the world as well as America’s favorite destination for partying,
celebrating or simply chill out.
"The
new slogan is not replacing 'What Happens Here, Stays Here,' but is
complementary …. Adding a product message to the brand message adult freedom
experience," says Erika Pope of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors
Authority. New Las Vegas hotels, clubs and shopping Malls are intended to attract more
visitors as gaming and gambling revenues seem to be falling down. The Las Vegas visitation rates
during 2007 show a growth of 0.7% over the same period in 2006. That's on pace
to exceed the record 2006 visitation of 38.9 million.
Some of the
projects planned at Las Vegas
include the recently inaugurated Palazzo Hotel and Resort. The Venetian’s
little sister opened its doors last week, featuring a series of celebrations
and events that caught everybody’s attention. But that’s not it, The
Cosmopolitan is also planned to be ready by late 2010, enlarging the list of
new and improved projects that will be opening in the next few years. That include
the Trump International Hotel & Towers, the Palms Place, a condo development and spa adjacent
to the Palms Casino Resort is expected to open late next month.
2009 will
witness the grand opening of Wynn’s latest luxury tower called Encore as well
as the MGM Mirage $7.8 billion shopping project, The CityCenter and the
Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Boyd Gaming's Echelon, a complex with five hotels,
including a Delano
and Mondrian, is expected to be ready to celebrate its grand opening in 2010. Also
a Plaza resort involving developers of New
York's The Plaza could be arriving in 2012.
