Promoter Frank Warren confirmed in a press conference in London today that the fervently anticipated match up between Joe Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins has been signed for April 19th at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The unbeatable Calzaghe is looking to begin what seems to be the final year of his career with a victory over the veteran Hopkins to prove that he can also fight and convince the audience outside his native Wales. The fight’s confirmation came at a press conference at London's Planet Hollywood attended by Calzaghe and promoter Frank Warren

Calzaghe holds an incredible record of 44-0 and he was recently added the WBC and WBA title when he confronted Mikkel Kessler in what it was his first fight at 175 pounds. The Thomas & Mack Center was the scenario in where Ricky Hatton's won over Jose Luis Castillo back in 2006. This venue has one of the largest capacities in Las Vegas and has enough capacity to accommodate the army of fans from the UK that is expected to travel to Sin City to see the fight. Actually a total of six thousand tickets have been purchased by Sports Network to provide accommodation for the British boxer fans. Tickets will go on sale on February 6th in the U.S and the fight will be broadcasted by HBO. A win would propel 35-year-old Calzaghe, into a possible career finale against Roy Jones Jr. or Germaine Taylor. Odds for the fight will be released next week in Las Vegas  but experts confirmed that Calzaghe has better chances to be favorite due its flawless boxing record.
