If you
visit Las Vegas regularly but want to try something
new in the hotel category or simply want to save a few dollars, then I suggest
you to take a look at the Orleans
hotel and casino. The last time I was in Vegas was in the summer of 2007, which
is not too long ago. I decided to stay off of the strip which is pretty
unusual, but I wanted to get away from all of the hustle and traffic. I
decided to go to the Orleans
which is located about the same distance form the Main Strip than the Palms or the
Rio Hotel.
The hotel
itself has a pretty nice exterior and the valet service is always great and
friendly. The entrance sign is lit up nicely and gives you the particular
New Orleans
feeling, including the alligators adorning the entrance and the main loby decoration. The gaming area is average and like any casino other in town, it offers 3000
video poker machines and the classic and noisy slots machines. The casino main hall
has every game you can play in Las
Vegas, including blackjack, craps, roulette, baccarat,
etc. I didn't play any Texas Hold’em there but I definitely know there is
at list a couple of poker tables open for any one who wants to play a hand or
two.
The Orleans is a great hotel
for a family and the room price isn't bad either. There are many things to do and see for the kids and family at the Orleans, including a 20 lane bowling alley on the second floor of the hotel. There
also is a 10 cinema theaters which have movies running up until 2:00 am. The
hotel pool is also good and spacious, the pool side service is quick and the selection
of drinks and cocktails is more than pleasant. The rooms are pretty decent and each
one of them features a standard TV set and beds with a couch in a separate
table area. Actually the best part about staying at the Orleans is that if you do want to gamble somewhere
else, there is a free shuttle that will take you to the strip at all points
during the day. The shuttle runs every day
of the week until midnight and picks up visitors every 20 - 30 minutes. I did take this many times and it is free to and from any
destination that the Orleans
will go to, it basically takes you to all the other casinos
owned or managed by the same people who run the Orleans.
