Its late, you’re hanging with your buddies playing poker, and all is going well. As soon as you realize how good this high life is, the turning point reaches the atmosphere: and you are left alone puzzled, angry and overall just a little tilted. In my short poker history I have played several home games with tons of friends and since our games are so diverse, we only play the same people maybe once a month. (Having a sit n go almost every Friday night)

Anyway, the last game we played in, my friend made me want to kill him... Yes I said kill him... He isn’t Phil Ivey so murder not assassinate would be the correct term.

Play was normal, six handed, etc, the cards were hot and cold and I looked down at A-K and raised a standard 3 X the BB raise.  My friend just calls from bad position and moves on. I seriously do not know what to put him on in this situation; the flop brings trips to my A-K (5-K-K.) two spades. I just check (tricky right) hoping for some big action. He checks. The turn comes a blank and I decide here is where I will make my stand, so I jack it all in.

My guy looks down and announces, "well this is it boys", I have 7 high but a flush draw..."Just think I have the best hand here you know" he states.

“WOW Robert really, you make this call hoping to spite me down on the river?  Why didn’t u push or bet post flop? I asked

No reply, the river comes with a miracle and he got the flush. I wanted to punch him right there and call him a donkey, but I didn’t. Holding emotions in are vital, moreover, the goal of this article was to present a question upon the readers. When your friend makes a bad play against you, and he or she gets lucky to win, should you explode or implode?

For me it was quite simple. I knew the kid didn’t care much about bad beats so I just nagged and nagged all night, call me a sore loser but ill never let Rob ever live that hand down. What an idiot…

Guess I somewhat exploded eh? Yep, but that was right for that situation, it all determines where you are and who you are playing with.
