Online PokerA number of college kids that are having great success playing online poker have a dilemma upon whether or not to stay in school and get their education.  To this question I have one simple answer.  Yes!  While poker is a great way to make some extra cash or even a living, it is still important to get a college degree.  Think about it.  Do you really want to play poker your whole life?  I could win 3 million dollars and be set for a long time, but playing poker would not be the only thing I would want to do in my life, there's more than simply spend your life in the poker tables.  With college, it gives players the opportunity to have something to fall back on if poker doesn't work, or if they just want something new and different in their lives.

A college degree makes all the difference in the world.  And lets face it, college is fun.  For me, college was the best time of my life, and I wasn't playing poker then.  School unfortunately came a close second to partying and drinking.  But I got my degree.  It was one of the smartest things I ever did and one of my greatest accomplishments as a person.  I would not trade my college experience for anything.  Kids these days can play poker all they want on campus.  School does not take up that much of a college students’ time.  It is possible to get along in college without doing much work at all as long as you do enough to pass.  Passing with a low GPA is still better than dropping out.  Commitment is also an important thing.  Once you start something, you should finish it.  College students really have their whole life ahead of them.  Poker can take a backseat at least for a few years.

College is also very important in the path along the journey of life.  There is much to be learned in college that is essential to survival in this tough world.  For the first time, it gives kids a different perspective of the world.  You must learn to become independent in college and learn important life skills.  Now, I know every one has its own reasons, but how could anyone give up that up for playing poker?  Playing while you are in school is great and a good way to support yourself.  It is essential though, that kids stay in school.  Poker, more than likely, will not last forever.  It is also human nature to live a fulfilling life.  Sitting on your couch at age 30 as a millionaire living on the edge is fulfilling.  Doing that same thing for 50 more years is not.  Get a degree and find something to fall back on.  One day, you may choose this path anyway.
