Every one of us who has played poker in a live
tournament or event has seen what I am going to talk about. At usually
every table there is unfortunately a guy who loves to complain. They
blame the dealer or the cards for their misfortune and won’t hesitate to chew
anyone out who gets on their nerves. These people do not act properly and
to me should be banned from the poker room. Nobody likes someone who
yells and screams when they have the same opportunity as anyone else.
I blame people like this example's actions on a number of things. Let’s face it. Some people are just not happy and are not good inside. This type of person I guess has an excuse for doing this sort of thing but they should still try to contain. Nobody should take out their problems on other people. One of my biggest pet peeves is someone who will not hesitate to chew out the dealer after a suck out or even if the dealer makes a small mistake. For one thing, the dealer does not control what cards come. It is all random dumb luck. Dealers are also human as well. They do not deserve to be berated by some fat guy with an attitude. Let the dealers be.
I also blame TV personalities like Mike Matusow or Tony G for people like this. Because they ham it up for the cameras and go off on people, it gives others the idea that they can do the same thing. This is totally wrong. For one thing, Phil Hellmuth puts on an act for the camera people. What possibly could make people think that it is ever proper to behave like a jackass is just mind-boggling to me. Your behavior should not change because you are at a poker table or because you see other people doing it. If Phil Ivey tells you to shoot yourself in the ass are you going to do it?
Please, I beg everyone, be nice at the poker tables. It makes for so much more of a friendly game that is fun and enjoyable. This is what poker is supposed to be. While money is important it is great to have fun while doing something lucrative. People that act like total jerks can really ruin the fun! So be nice everyone. Don't let me catch you being inappropriate!
