When looking for a poker game you can play either a tournament or a cash game. Cash games are generally set at a certain level and the blinds do not change at all. Tournaments are different because their levels increase the longer a tournament runs. Tournament structure is very important and may vary depending on how a poker tournament is setup. If you are playing an internet poker tournament you can check and see what the blinds will be in advance by looking at the tournament lobby. You will be able to see what the blinds are at each level and how long each level lasts.

Playing online poker most of the time the blind levels are consistent for almost every tournament. One notable exception however would be turbo tournaments. Most major online poker rooms have regular tournaments and turbo tournaments. Turbo games have blind structures that increase each level in half the time a normal blind structure would. So for example if a normal level advances every 10 minutes, in a turbo game the level would increase every five minutes. Turbo games are a lot of fun because the course of the game runs more quickly and there tends to be more action.

If you play turbo multi-table tournaments there should not be much change in how you play at the start. The fact that it is a turbo will not have that much of an effect until around the first break. You can afford to be patient and play good hands. As the game goes on you will find that the antes start a lot sooner than you would expect. Many players feel added pressure playing in a turbo game and may be more aggressive than they need to be. As the game progresses and the preflop pot gets bigger it will pay to be more aggressive, but you do not need to get too aggressive too quick. Do not fall into the trap of pushing all-in because you feel pressure from playing in a turbo game.
