It all goes
back to the question, is online gambling rigged? Well, in my opinion, there are
several ways to answer that question, but in the end everybody would like to
think that it is not. However, there are substantial differences between the several
types of online gambling activities available on the net. The first difference
is how the sites profit, online poker sites
make their money by taking a rake from each pot, so the bigger the pot, the bigger
the rake. So, what is to stop the site from making 2 players having great
hands, each of whom think they have the other opponent beat, and as a result
the pot gets bigger, and along with it the rake. This is why I will play
tournaments or sng’s, because they take the rake at the beginning of the game
and that is it. Some online poker sites use fishy tactics and ambiguous bonus policies;
some have been involved in cheating scandals like Absolute
Poker, however, the online poker scenario is also one of the cleanest and
safest around and the industry is continuously improving its security protocols
to provide the best possible service, after all, projecting trustiness is a
great way to advertise your business and having a good name and reputation
sales more than any bonus you offer.
Now, let’s talk about online blackjack. Blackjack is a relatively amusing game
that attracts thousands of players every day, however, in blackjack and other
casino games, the house profits directly from the players and there’s no such
thing as rake. I refuse to play online blackjack for several reasons, the first
is the odds; even when most sites advertise their games’ odds as the “Fairest”,
it’s hard to believe that you’re chances are not statistically reduced when you’re
playing a game that has programmed odds. The second is that you are playing
against the house and the house will always want your money. I sat down with
$20 and saw some of the most unrealistic catches the dealer made. But they have
a reason to reduce your odds, and the reason is your money. This is why I
refuse to play online blackjack, and play online poker instead.
