To some
this article will seem useless and non informative and to you I apologize but
to others whom venture upon it this may prove insightful. I am a new player to
online poker and have really made the most out of my three months playing. I
like so many others made the decision to postpone depositing any cash until I
had some experience and looked around a bit.
I started
playing play money with my brother-in-law for about a week and then I saw the
words "poker freeroll" and was immediately convinced I could do this. I was going to
build a bankroll by winning the freerolls and I could play one every day
so I thought that it would not take long. I first tried playing FullTilt.com 2700 player freerolls for my shot at $100, after a steady month of
coming out tired and disappointed I decided to try another method. I noticed in
the private tab that there were multiple freerolls every day with smaller
playing fields. So naturally I started following the links and joining every
group and online forum I found on the internet. I did this for another
month and in the smaller fields took a few cents here and there; however,
I wasn’t really gaining anything except for more experience and a lot of e-mails
and headaches from trying to play four games at once just to lose them due the
lack of concentration.
Frustrated
and burned out I stopped playing at all for almost a week. Yes I had giving
up, then my wife ask if I would play play money with her one night so I did
and the difference was unbelievable. After only an hour I had the largest chip
stack at the table with 31,940 and just couldn’t lose. The fire was back, I had
gotten better and I was seeing it for myself. The next day I played another
FullTilt's freeroll again, but this time I was more confident, and six hours
later I had $4.50 in my account. Now I had planned to build a bankroll, but that’s
not how it worked when I hit the money tables that evening. Needless to say I
was broke in less than twenty minutes and frustrated like you would not believe.
So I decided to do some homework and started to look at all the information on
strategy I could find. After a few hours I found my answer staring at me
in my mailbox. I had joined all the poker forums I found and was so preoccupied with
passwords that I never stopped to look around and ask questions.
I am not
done with my bankroll project yet but when I play and can be there for the whole
game and if it is fruitful and a lot more enjoyable. If something happens I
have questions about I know I can post it and within a few hours have five or
more answers or opinions to help me. I will not mention all five but I will
tell you my new favorite yep you guessed it the WDIAV not because of the
freeroll but because of the forum. So my advice for all the beginners, first
sign up for the WDIAV Forum, then get to know the folks, ask questions and stop trying
to get rich in one day. Sure we all can be great players, but getting there
requires patience, hard work and the desire to learn. Anything can be accomplished
in time, and you will get more out of your time learning from forum users
and playing tourneys until you feel confident enough to make a deposit and play
for money. I hope this was at least worth reading, good luck to all and always
strive for greatness.
