them bent or broken, however if you learn and use these proper guidelines you
will be viewed as a solid and at least respectful poker player. These practices
are meant for brick and mortar casinos but, can also be used online:
1. Act in turn. This doesn’t occur online
because the gaming software controls this, however, in a poker room or in your
home game you will always have to wait your turn to act on your hand. Raising, calling or
folding out of turn could provide other players with too much information about
your hand or how you play hands.
2. Keep your cards in sight of all the other
players. This will help other players realize who is remaining in a hand as
well as the dealer. This will reduce out of turn play. Leave your cards in
front of you and view your cards by cupping your hands over your cards to peek
at the hand.
3. Don’t discuss hands in play. If you’re
playing in an online poker site, then there’s no need to chat about the hand or
what you mucked while opponents are still in a hand. Also in a live game
this could give an unfair advantage to a player still involved in the pot.
4. Tip the dealer. In real live play
involving a dealer it is a good practice to reward the dealer for dealing you a
winning hand.
5. Play quickly. This will help everyone
at your table enjoy a speedy efficient game of poker
6. Don’t look at another player’s hand.
Not possible online but in a home game or in a casino if you get caught doing this can cause you a lot of troubles!
7. Table Personality. Don’t be the guy
that wines and complains and moans and argues and makes everyone else miserable
with trash talk and foul language. Play your best game and enjoy the experience with friends and act like a gentleman or Lady when you're in a public game.
8. Be a gracious winner. Don’t gloat. Do
not jump up and down and holler and scream. Also don’t be a sore loser. Bad
beats happen and people draw out, that’s the way the cards fall.
