This article is going to cover how to build your bankroll, all starting from zero. So, all sites offer freerolls, and this is the best way to kick start your bankroll, assuming it is at $0. First off, don't get discouraged if you don’t rank in the freeroll, or if you only win 50 cents, but 50 cents will add up if you play a lot of freerolls. Poker is a game of patience, and you don’t necessarily have to play big all the time since you won’t always hit it big. Play 4 or 5 poker freerolls till you have about $2 or so. What I liked to do is go in a 9 person $1.25 sng, as the players are not great and that is an easy way to build your bankroll. Keep playing them till you are at around $15 or so.

Now, again, this is just my strategy that works well for me, but here is what I will usually do. Full Tilt Poker, UltimateBet and other online poker sites offer bounty tournaments, and this is the best way to build your bankroll when around $15. Enter a 90 person $3.30 sng where ko's are 50 cents each. Before you know it, you will have enough ko's to have your buy in back! So keep playing the $3.30 ko's, or even a $5 ko tournament, you will be surprised at how many knock outs you will get.

Now, lets say you are at $50, which is quite impressive. SNG'S are great for building small bankrolls, however when I have a decent sized bankroll I will play cash. I will usually buy in for half my stack, which most players will go against because they say it is poor management skills. This is true, however in my opinion, it's go big or go home. My strategy here is simple: I leave when I am either down half my stack, or up twice my stack. For example, lets say I bought in for $30; I will leave when I am at $60, or leave when I am at $15. This way I don’t get carried away and at the same time am keeping it safe. I had $10 on stars, and followed this strategy for buying in for $5 at pl Omaha. I started off playing $0.10/0.25, and I had built that $10 up to $120, and eventually started playing $0.50/1.

This just goes to show that this strategy works, it may not for you as everyone has a different strategy. But if next time you find yourself wanting to try a new way to build your bankroll, you should give this try a shot. I turned $0 into $120 doing it, give it a try for yourself and let us know how it goes.
