One of the most popular
games in the poker community is Texas Hold'Em,
a community oriented poker game that has taken off like wildfire on the
Internet. Players basically gather round the table while cards are dealt face
up on the table for all to see. Cards are made visible to all players and are
available to all players to choose from. Between these cards that are available
to all players and the cards in their own hand, players have to plan against
each other and form a successful winning strategy against all the other players
at the table. While there are many variations to the game of Texas Hold'Em,
this is the basic layout of the game and the most popular version.
The general variations
of Texas Hold'Em are No Limit
Texas Hold'Em, which is very popular but restricted in many areas,
limit Texas Hold'Em which features a limit to each wager in each game specified
in each round of wagering. And finally pot limit Texas Hold'Em features the
ability for the player to bet the entire amount of the pot at any given time.
These variations provide enough variety and flair for almost any player to
amuse themselves and entertain themselves with, without having to delve too
deeply into the world of other types of poker games. Texas Hold'Em has become
one of the most popular games on the Web as well as in traditional brick and
mortar gaming establishments, offering round-the-clock tournament play in many
locations.
During play, players
begin with a blind wager, after which each player is dealt two cards. Players
are allowed to wager again in the first betting round and then three cards are
dealt face up, considered community cards. Players wager again, and the fourth
card is turned up amongst the previous three community cards. Once again the
players take a third round of wagering before the river card, the final
community card, is turned up in the middle of the table, the final bet is taken
and the showdown commences.
The dealer button is a
disc that rotates from player to player in order, clockwise around the table.
Each player gets a chance to deal, ensuring that each player gets a chance to
post blind bets as well as playing early, late and is otherwise completely fair
in the distribution of the cards and the frequency of dealing.
