Coldplay, one
of the most successful British bands in the last decade, has announced the “Viva
La Vida” tour schedule, a world tour titled after the band’s latest album. The “Viva
La Vida” tour includes several shows in the U.S, starting on June 23rd
at the Madison Square
Garden in New York. After that gig, Coldplay’s Tour
will visit several other cities including Philadelphia,
Cleveland, Kansas
City, Oklahoma City and Sin
City in what is expected to be one of
the greatest and most expected Las Vegas
events in recent years.
Formed in
London, England in 1996 by Chris Martin on the lyrics and keyboards, Jonnie
Buckland on the guitar, Guy Berryman on the bass and Will Champion on the drums,
the band was originated mainly as a hobby when singer, Chris Martin met his
fellow band mates at the London College. Coldplay started mainly as an Indie
Rock band that followed the remarkable and refreshing sound of bands such as
Suede, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, Travis and the Doves. However, the band’s
first album, “Parachutes” marked a new style different from other Brit Pop
bands and created a sound that became the band’s main trademark. Coldplay has
recorded 4 official albums: Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X&Y
and Viva Las Vida. The band landed on the American music scene in 2000 with
their debut album "Parachutes", their first smash hit in the United States
and over seas was the single "Yellow", followed by “Don’t Panic” and “Trouble”.
“Parachutes” won multi platinum albums in several countries and earned Coldplay
its first Grammy, but with the band’s second release “ A Rush of blood to the
Head”, Coldplay rapidly gained a lot of attention from Radio Stations and Music
Networks, over passing their debut album's success with record sales worldwide
and an creating an immense group of fans in almost every corner of the planet. The
band was also nominated for a Mercury Music Prize, then received the Q Award
for Best Album and then to make the year even better got a record deal with a
relevant American record label (Capitol Records)
Although
the rise to fame has been a bit of a shock to the band according to Chris Martin
and other band members’ declarations. To add a personal touch to this story, I
recently saw an MTV Live Concert re-run, I've always liked the band, but seeing
them in concert creates a different perspective of the band. This show has also
received lots of excellent comments from music critics and from the media
thanks to its great production and visuals and Coldplay’s incredible sound and
heart felt lyrics, which are simply inspiring and breathtaking, even when most
of them tend to be a little sad and emotional. Don’t miss your chance to see
Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” tour at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on
July 7th, for more information on how to purchase Coldplay tickets,
