A tough choice.

All in all, everyone has had a good month playing poker.  Whether is be online or live, many players have decided that after a good month, they should turn to the felt as a yearly income job.  Though exciting, and often painful, poker can have its ups and downs.  Thus, I pose the question... Is poker for work or poker for pleasure right for you?

Poker for work

My friends father had three years in with Verizon, he was a family man, a hardworking fellow, with tons of insight and intellectual prowess.  During the summer of 2005, he decided to take a trip to Las Vegas.  A getaway, luxurious time awaited him during the most barred down times of the year.  However, this year was to be an exception, the summer in 2005 was to be a money maker.  He won a tournament at the Bellagio for $145… sick right?  Although it bolstered his pockets, it crossed his mind that poker could indeed turn into a daily activity that could make him and his family rich.  So he turned pro.  Now, he is a grinder.  His days are short, cursing, yelling, and often, screaming at his kids.
He definitely has changed, so I have distanced myself from this man.

My intentions are of no harm.  I do not encourage nor discourage anyone from playing online poker to make a living, after all it is a personal decision and nobody but you can determine if its a good idea or just simple craziness .

Poker for Pleasure

I love poker, in fact, I play for fun almost every day. Wedoitallvegas.com is a retreat; It is a place to go to get away from the virtual felt and grind, but to converse with average players.  Poker for pleasure is amazing.  It comes with no attachments.  You play and go as you please.  If you’re tired, go to sleep; if one is running bad, take a two day break. Whenever you tell yourself that playing poker for fun is indeed your goal, the overall process and burden of the game will lighten.  Therefore, poker will become a lesser importance and worry within your life.  I play poker for fun.  I challenge myself.  I love to make money, and play profitable poker. However, I do not cry nor scream about losing like others.

As yourself this question before you play the beautiful game of poker: Do you play poker for work, or pleasure?

Once you have assessed yourself, the message will become much clearer.  Do as you chose, and play as you please. But please, make a bold decision, and stick with your guns before heading to the felt.  It will make your understanding of the game that much easier and enjoyable.
