Harrah’s
Golf has officially taken over the operations of the Las Vegas National Golf Club,
the first announcement was released back in March, when Harrah’s sealed the deal and expressed that
several changes and improvements were underway. Harrah's is
expected to elevate the Las Vegas National Golf Club to a new class of of
excellence and brilliance that characterize Harrah’s hotels and other golf
courses. The Las Vegas National Golf Club
has been the favorite location for many Las
Vegas golf tournaments and events, Mickey Wright, Jack
Nicklaus. Al Geiberger and Davis Love III won trophies in this great Las Vegas golf course. The
Las Vegas National Golf Club will always be in Tiger Woods' mind forever, his first
PGA Tour victory in 1996 at the Las Vegas Invitational happened in this great
and historic golf course. Las Vegas National Golf Club also was in the three-course
rotation along with TPC Summerlin and the Desert Inn Golf Club and has held many
PGA and LPGA Tour events since its creation in 1961.
“It’s an
honor to now be the caretaker for this living legend of Las Vegas golf. We take very seriously our
responsibility to continue the traditions and build on the history that has
taken place on these fairways and greens. But while we honor the past we will
also be moving into future by remodeling the clubhouse and working to create a
place-to-be in Las Vegas, restoring some of the
good old days when Las Vegas’
movers and shakers, and celebrities used to come in for drinks in the
clubhouse, creating a very cool atmosphere. And we believe we will provide a
very good value for our resort guests” said Eric Dutt, Harrah’s Vice President,
Las Vegas Golf Operations.
There were
some improvements made to the clubhouse, and a golf instruction team of Vic
Wilk, Mike Buss, and Tim Kerrigan has been permanently hired to
impart lessons at the Las Vegas National Golf Club. Dutt said that he was
satisfied with the quality of the course, and not much was needed to be
improved other than the usual investment in the appropriate upkeep and care
that will allow the course to become part of Harrah's mark of excellence. Harrah's golf also manages the Rio
Secco Golf Club and Cascata.
"This
is a great traditional, old style layout, and that’s the best part about it and
it makes it very enjoyable to every level of player. We are wall-to-wall grass
so there are no forced carries, and it is in great condition right now. We want
to invite all Las Vegas
golfers back to Las Vegas National because we are committed to bringing back
the atmosphere that this place was known for." says Image New General
Manager Scott Greer.
