PokerStars announced that a extraordinary array of 20 of the best poker players in the world will be attending the second edition of the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour event in Macau.

This event, which is the largest professional poker tournament in Asia, is expected to gather more than 500 players during the series of tournaments starting on September 1st and running until September 10th, 2008.

The latest addition in the list of pros participating at the APPT is poker legend Johnny Chan. With ten World Series of Poker bracelets and over $6.7 million in tournament winnings, Chan is by far one of the most successful players in the world of professional poker.

"It's great for Poker in Asia that there's a major tournament like this here in Macau. It's attracting all of the top players in the sport, and letting the world know that there is real poker, real poker players, and that anybody can win millions of dollars." said Chan.

Players still have the chance to win APPT seats through live mega satellites running from August 24th through August 31st, at the PokerStars Macau poker room at Grand Waldo Casino or simply buy the entry directly on PokerStars.com.

"We are excited to have so many of the world's top players coming to the Grand Waldo Casino in Macau this year. It's a testament to the success of Season 1 that champions such as Chan, Joe Hachem, Scotty Nguyen, Men 'The Master' Nguyen and Barry Greenstein are eager to compete on the felt during our second season. We're privileged to continue leading the growth of poker and poker culture in Asia, and expect local and regional player participation to at least double during this year's events. The PokerStars.net APPT is taking poker to a new level in Asia Pacific, and when this Macau tournament is broadcast on TV around the world, we expect this growth to continue." said Jeffrey Haas, president of the PokerStars.net APPT.
