The legendary Riviera Hotel and Casino has completed the first stage of a series of renovations, the famous Las Vegas hotel is currently in the middle of an extensive, $20-million transformation that includes redecorated and modernized guest rooms, 160,000 square feet of refurbished casino space with a refurbished new VIP slot area and restructured convention facilities, which demonstrates how the recent modernization of the Las Vegas Strip has affected the famous Riviera Hotel.

In over six decades of existence, the Las Vegas hotel machinery has changed and renovated its image in more than one occasion. The idea of creating a place where people can spend some good time, gamble a little and have the chance to see some of the most exclusive shows and events on earth hasn’t changed much since the construction of the first hotels and casinos in Las Vegas, however, some other things have change in the last decades, including the introduction of new and modern Megaresorts that gradually killed the old fashioned hotels and casinos.

Now, the Riviera has no option but updating its amenities, infrastructure and service to remain competitive in a city in where the winds of change usually blow it all.

The First Phase of this extensive renovation was recently concluded with more than 50% of The Riviera's guest rooms receiving an upgrade. The refashioned rooms feature new and more comfortable interiors, including new wall papers and carpets, new bathrooms with ceramic tile, marble vanities and bath equipment. Each room features an innovative and contemporary style that includes new furniture, lighting fixtures, new artwork and European-style beds.

The new rooms are also equipped with amenities such as flat screen TV’s, wireless Internet access, iPod/MP3 alarm clock radio and refrigerators. The remaining 1000 and something rooms of The Riviera will be also renovated by November 2008, with 1,846 units designated as non-smoking rooms.
