The "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, one of most prominent and legendary Las Vegas attractions is getting an upgrade that will assure curious visitors and tourists a safest view of the iconic sign. The Las Vegas Strip landmark created in 1959 by Betty Willis and Ted Rogich has been relocated several times on Las Vegas Boulevard as the city continued to grow.

The famous luminous sign receives thousands of tourists and locals every year looking to take pictures of it, which causes some traffic disturbances and occasional accidents due the large amount of vehicles messily parked in the median and the fearless visitors dodging the traffic to get closer to the sign and ignoring the "Drive Carefully" legend written on the back of the sign.

According to Clark County Commissioners, the city is already working on a parking lot that will be set up in a large area of the center island of Las Vegas Boulevard so people can park their cars and walk to the sign with out causing an accident. The parking project should be completed by the end of November.

Even when the City has no official records of the incidence of accidents in the area; Commissioner Chip Maxfield says the increasing amount of visitors looking for a picture of the sign has made the lot necessary to prevent any more accidents.
