The recently inaugurated Horseshoe Casino has announced that the high-stakes action of the World Series of Poker, the largest poker event on the planet, is coming to Illinois for the first time. The tournament will run from Friday, October 24th, 2008 to Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 and will be held at the Horseshoe’s ultra modern entertainment center. The World Series of Poker Circuit schedule for Horseshoe Casino will feature a total of thirteen tournament events, with buy-ins ranging from $300 up to $5,000 for the Main Event. Registration will start on October 24th, 2008.
The winner of the $5,000 championship will receive a great cash prize plus a seat to the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, valued at $10,000. The WSOP held at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas attracted more than 58,000 entrants from 124 different countries during the last edition of the tournament series, awarding over $180 million in prize money as players battled for poker’s most wanted prize: a WSOP bracelet.
"The World Series of Poker is without question the single most prestigious gaming event anywhere, and we're thrilled to bring all the excitement of the tournament to our customers in the Chicagoland area," said Rick Mazer, Indiana Regional President and General Manager, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc.
