Vega Promotional System Inc has announced the schedule for the first edition of the Poker Tour of the Americas (PTA), a new live poker tournament designed to meet the expectations of the professional poker circuit and to attract the best poker players in the continent. According to Vega, the 2009 season of the Poker Tour of the Americas (PTA) will feature a total of five events, however, Vega also expressed that they have plans to expand the Tour to six tournaments in 2010. The schedule for the Poker Tour of the Americas season one is as follows:

  • February 21st to 27th                 Guayaquil, Ecuador
  • April 10th to 17th                      San Jose, Costa Rica
  • June 5th to 12th                    Vancouver, British Columbia
  • August 15th to 21st                   Cartagena, Colombia
  • October 24th to 30th                  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The location of the Tournament of Champions main event crown will be held in North America and will be announced in the next few weeks. Beside promoting and producing the PTA, Vega is currently working in the production of a TV programming to air the tournaments in North and South America. Since Vega will also own the programming rights, the Company is currently negotiating for network airtime that would allow the Company to sell its own advertising for the programs.

The tournaments are invitational events with players from all over the world able to win seats though numerous qualification satellites running in several online poker sites as well as live local satellite tournaments. Further details about the PTA will be announced as soon as Vega releases more information.
