Three Historic combats announced for UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 Las Vegas

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) organization is proud to announce that three great fights have been included on the historic final card of the year. UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, on Saturday, December 27^th, 2008.

“We are ending 2008 with a fight card like no other. One for every fight fan out there.” said UFC President Dana White.

Two titles will be on the line on December 27^th when former UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir meets UFC Heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira in a fight between the two The Ultimate Fighter team coaches. Two former champs will also stage a great match as the Brazilian Mixed Martial Arts legend and former PRIDE champion Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva takes on former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

But probably the most expected combat on the fight card will feature the UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin vs. The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 heavyweight winner Rashad Evans, who recently defeated the former UFC champion Chuck Liddell with a solid knock out.

“I’m happy that the winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 gets to fight the winner of Season 2. I think that’s great for a couple of reality show guys. Rashad has a great wrestling background, he has a lot of power and explosiveness, and he doesn’t just knock guys out, he knocks them out for quite a while. But I know a lot of people will be watching this fight. This is a great fight card, I’m honored to be on it, and I’m definitely not going to let anything slide.” Griffin said.
