The fourth edition of the BC Poker Championships ran from November 16th to 23rd, 2008 at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, British Columbia, the talented player and WSOP bracelet winner outlasted a field of 689 players, including several familiar names in the professional tournament circuit such as Maria Ho, Gabe Kaplan, Brad "Yukon" Booth, Mark Napier, Tiffany Michelle, Dennis Phillips, Lacey Jones, Isabelle Mercier, Gavin Smith, Steve Paul Ambrose, and Liz Lieu among others.

"Being Canadian myself, playing and winning the BC Poker Championships is extra special to me. The tournament was extremely well organized and my opponents were very good. It may have been a smaller tournament but I would say this has been the best $2500 buy-in event structure I've ever played. I've been to many casinos all over the world but the River Rock Casino Resort is truly unique and it's been a great experience. The service is excellent and I've been treated like a star right from day one! I look forward to coming back again with friends." declared Negreanu.

The 2008 BC Poker Championships sold out all its three events, attracting 2368 players in total and amassing a prize pool of more than $2.9 million.

"This year's tournament has drawn the largest celebrity participation out of all BC poker events, confirming British Columbia as a hot destination for exciting poker." expressed Darryl Schiewe, the vice-president of casino and community gaming for the B.C. Lottery Corp.

With more than $10 million in live tournament winnings, the 34 year old player from Toronto, Canada, has won four World Series of Poker bracelets and appeared in more than a dozen final tables; Negreanu also achieved two World Poker Tour Championship titles and was named World Series of Poker player of the year in 2004 and World Poker Tour player of the year in 2005. Since the beginning of June, Daniel Negreanu has collected around $1 million in tournament winnings, positioning his name in second place on the all-time tournament cash list with approximately $10.9 million dollars in cashes (Jamie Gold has $12.17 million dollars in lifetime cashes). Only four other players have reached the ten million dollars in lifetime cashes (Joe Hachem, Phil Hellmuth Jr., Allen Cunningham and Phil Ivey), however, Negreanu claims to be playing some of the best poker of his career, and has stated that his goal is to be the first person to overpass Jamie Gold on the all-time tournament cash list.
