Playing online poker can be fun and relaxing. If you want to move beyond being a casual player and win serious money then you need to be a student of the game. Reading strategy books and discussing hand histories are all great tools to help you succeed. The website CardRunners.com takes learning to the next level. CardRunners provides its members with a myriad of teaching tools such as videos, a forum, and coaching. For detailed information about individual coaching please contact the appropriate coaches for your stakes to setup times and payment schedules.

CardRunners is an online poker training website and community. The Video tab is what most everyone pays for and it does not disappoint. Each video can be streamed or downloaded. No limit Hold’em has the most videos but CardRunners has every online poker game with the exception of badugi. The video collection is extensive covering a range of stakes, players, and poker sites. There are literally thousands of hours catalogued and available for your viewing pleasure. Different videos have different styles creating a nice mix of class room style videos and live videos. The videos are easily searchable and new videos are uploaded based on the schedule on the video homepage. This is incredibly helpful as video series build on the foundation from previous episodes. If you miss a video don’t worry because they get archived. If you can’t find the type of video you want you’re not looking hard enough.

Additionally subscribers have full access to a forum and post hand histories, discuss strategy, and converse with fellow members and pros. The forum combines and enhances the learning experience of all subscribers due to fairly robust use.

Many of the top pros post regular blogs on a wide range of topics from travel to playing in the World Series of Poker. Players such as Brian Townsend, Brian Hastings, and Cole South post their poker, or non-poker, thoughts and the blogs can be read by anyone. Subscribers are allowed to create their own blogs.

There is also a flash chat available and at any given time it may be filled with members and CardRunners pros. The chat window loaded quickly as a separate popup and reminded me of AIM.

CardRunners also has an agreement with Full Tilt Poker allowing you to purchase a membership using Full Tilt Poker Points. Just pull up the FTP lobby, click on the cashier button, Full Tilt Store, then click on the CardRunners / Stox icon. If you cannot wait to use points signup for CardRunners direct from their website. There is a $99.99 signup fee and monthly fee of $27.99. However keep an eye on the CardRunners.com website as they run promos every now and then to help save you money on memberships. While using a credit card is always an option you may also transfer money over poker sites to pay for memberships. In addition to videos members of CardRunners are eligible for discounted poker products such as Hold’em Manager and StoxPoker.com. Check the CardRunners FAQ for more details.

The only downside to CardRunners is that the videos, while downloadable, are DRM protected so you must renew your license (14 days) to view them offline and you can’t put the videos onto your iPod. While it would be nice if the videos could be placed onto an iPod this is nothing more than an inconvenience.

Overall the CardRunners experience was extremely positive. The customer service was outstanding and got back to me quickly. The website is incredibly easy to navigate. All the content and areas of interest are self-explanatory. None of the videos I viewed had any visual or audio issues. Streaming the videos on my laptop with a wireless connection was quick and simple. I never had an issue with a video stopping to buffer. For the cost of a monthly subscription you get back a great product. CardRunners is the pioneer of poker training websites providing high quality videos from high quality professionals.
