- 3-2-2010
PokerStars pro Jose 'Nacho' Barbero became the first Team PokerStars.net sponsored player to win an LAPT event after over lasting a field of 306 players to take the 2010 LAPT Punta del Este title. 'Nacho' also became the second Latin American player to win a LAPT circuit event after European players dominated the first two seasons of the Latin American Poker Tour.
This year's LAPT Punta del Este event has been a huge success, generating a prize pool of $1,042,260 divided among the top 48 players, with Barbero taking home $279,330 for his first prize win.
The final table was made up of three Argentinean players, two Brazilian players, one Colombian player and one local player from Uruguay; Norbert Ludger, who started the final day as chip leader. The only player from outside South America to reach the final table was French PokerStars qualifier Nicolas Cardyn, who cashed $161,550 for second place.
The tournament was held at the Mantra Casino & Resort at Punta del Este, Uruguay's premier seaside resort. A large crowd gathered in the ballroom of the Mantra Casino to watch the final table, with a great atmosphere and crow support for Jose 'Nacho' Barbero.
One of the best poker players in Argentina, Barbero boasts a strong record in poker tournaments around the world.
