    2009 WSOP Player of the Year Race


    With only a few day left before the 2009 World Series of Poker takes a three month hiatus to play the Main Event's final table, it seems the race for Player of the Year is already a done deal for the professional poker player Jeff Lisandro.


    PokerStars.com has announced two new additions to Team PokerStars Pro: Marcel 'The Flying Dutchman' Luske and Jason "treysfull21" Mercier.


    Earlier this week, the site announced that British poker pro Ian Frazer signed a sponsorship deal with Party Poker and stated that more players would be added in the next days. Yesterday, PartyPoker informed that Brazilian pro Felipe Ramos and French player Remy Biechel were also joining the new professional poker team.


    Pokerstars.com will bring together World Series of Poker Main Event champion and Team PokerStars Pro Peter Eastgate and fellow team member and 2008 WSOP Main Event runner up Ivan Demidov, in a unique heads-up charity tournament held at the online poker site.

    Retired teacher wins 2009 WSOP Event #9


    Ken Aldridge, a 57 year old retired teacher from North Carolina has become the winner of the 2009 World Series of Poker Event #9 ($1500 Shorthanded No-limit Hold’em), outlasting a field of 1459 players and taking home his first bracelet and the $428,259 first-place prize

    Jason Mercier takes 2009 WSOP Event #5


    22-year-old professional poker player from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and European Poker Tour Champ, Jason Mercier, has won his first WSOP bracelet after an exciting victory in Event #5 ($1,500 pot-limit Omaha event), taking the $237,462 first prize and rising his career earnings to more than $3.1 million.

    Steve Sung Wins 2009 WSOP Event #4


    24 year old professional player from Korea, Suk Min “Steve” Sung’s has won his first major tournament title after taking the 2009 World Series of Poker Event #4 ($1,000 no-limit Hold’em) on Wednesday night, outlasting a field of 6,012 players and winning his first bracelet and the $771,106 first prize.
