    2009 WSOP Main Event kicks off


    The Main Event began a few minutes after 2:00 pm local time after a brief introduction and announcement made by the WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack and Tournament Director Jack Effel, who among other things, thanked fans and players for their support and collaboration, and the tournament staff and dealers for their hard work and contribution to this year’s tournament series.


    After two sold out events at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and the Caesars Palace, the Dream Team Poker is tuning the final details for the upcoming event at the 2009 WSOP in Las Vegas, which will kick off on July 12th at the the Brasilia Room inside the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino.


    Aced will be hosting a WSOP Party on July 2nd at The Palms Las Vegas and they would like to extend an invite to all Aced.com poker players that will be in Las Vegas.

    Retired teacher wins 2009 WSOP Event #9


    Ken Aldridge, a 57 year old retired teacher from North Carolina has become the winner of the 2009 World Series of Poker Event #9 ($1500 Shorthanded No-limit Hold’em), outlasting a field of 1459 players and taking home his first bracelet and the $428,259 first-place prize


    WSOP champ and member of the famous Team Full Tilt, Phil Ivey, has added another World Series of Poker bracelet to his record on Thursday night after taking down the $2,500 No Limit Deuce-to-Seven Event #8.

    Jason Mercier takes 2009 WSOP Event #5


    22-year-old professional poker player from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and European Poker Tour Champ, Jason Mercier, has won his first WSOP bracelet after an exciting victory in Event #5 ($1,500 pot-limit Omaha event), taking the $237,462 first prize and rising his career earnings to more than $3.1 million.

    Steve Sung Wins 2009 WSOP Event #4


    24 year old professional player from Korea, Suk Min “Steve” Sung’s has won his first major tournament title after taking the 2009 World Series of Poker Event #4 ($1,000 no-limit Hold’em) on Wednesday night, outlasting a field of 6,012 players and winning his first bracelet and the $771,106 first prize.


    64 year old player from from Las Vegas, NV, and four time WSOP bracelet winner, Tom McEvoy, has become the winner of the 2009 World Champions Invitational tournament and received the first-ever "Binion Cup" named in honor of the Binion Family, founders of the World Series of Poker forty years ago.


    Event #4 saw a massive field of 2,992 on Day 1a (May 30th) and 3,020 players on Day 1b (May 31st), bringing the total of players in Event #4 to 6,012, the largest field reported in any event besides the highly popular WSOP $10.000 Main Event.


    After shattering all expectations and setting new attendance and prize pool records, the 2009 World Series of Poker Event #3 ($1500 Omaha Hi/Low Split 8 or Better) has finally crowned its new champion in an exciting final table that lasted for about six hours and that closed with Thang Luu taking the bracelet for a second year in a row.


    The 2009 World Series of Poker Event #3 ($1500 Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-Better) Day 1 kicked off yesterday with a record-breaking field of 918 players, making it the largest Omaha Hi/Lo live tournament in the history of the WSOP. According to the tournament officials, Event #3 showed a 10% increase in registrations compared to last year, when a total of 832 players entered the Omaha Hi/Lo event.


    The 2009 World Series of Poker Event #2 ($40,000 No Limit Hold’em) has officially kicked off yesterday at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino, registering a total of 201 players and amassing a $7.72 million prize pool. The high stakes event is the first open tournament at the 40th WSOP and the first televised event covered for future broadcast on ESPN.

    The 40th World Series of Poker has officially kicked off yesterday with the 2 day Event #1 ($500 Casino Employees No Limit Hold’em), registering a total of 866 entries and generating a $389,700 prize pool.
