Aerosmith

Formed in Boston in 1970 by guitarist Joe Perry, bassist Tom Hamilton, singer Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford, Aerosmith has been called "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band" while also inspiring a generation of today's most popular rock stars. After over 40 years of creating the most recognizable rock songs in the world, Aerosmith has sold over 150 million albums and hold the record for the most gold and platinum albums by any American group.

After being signed to Columbia Records in 1972, Aerosmith's career took off with a series of multi-platinum albums including Aerosmith, Get Your Wings, the critically-acclaimed Toys in the Attic and Rocks in 1976. By the end of the seventies, the group had become the popular rock band in the world and at the height of their success, Aerosmith's members Joe Perry and Brad Whitford departed the group in 1979 and 1981 respectively due to conflicts with the other members, not to mention the ongoing drug problems which haunted the group.

It wasn't until 1984 that the group reunited with its original members and signed a new deal with Geffen Records. By 1987, Aerosmith released Permanent Vacation and regained the success that they had lost during the 80s. Aerosmith's comeback has been called one of the most remarkable and spectacular in rock and roll history as they released Pump in 1989, Get a Grip in 1993 and Nine Lives in 1997. In 2001, Aerosmith was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and have also been honored by both Rolling Stone and VH1 as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
