Bruno Mars

Born as Peter Gene Hernandez in Hawaii in 1985, singer Bruno Mars quickly rose to fame shortly after graduating from high school and moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. Mars got his start by collaborating with B.O.B. on the track "Nothin' On You" and "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy. Bruno Mars has also found success as a songwriter, co-writing the hits "Right Round" by Flo Rida, "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan and F*** You! by Cee Lo Green. By 2010, Mars had released his debut album Doo-Wops and Hooligans which was nominated for seven GRAMMYs and won the GRAMMY for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for the track "Just the Way You Are".

Having been inspired by Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson as a child, Mars incorporates a wide variety of genres in his music, including Pop, Motown, Rock and Hip Hop. He also
credits Doo Wop to being a major influence in his music and was heavily influenced by the popularity of reggae while growing up in Hawaii. He has also had his share of controversy, when he was arrested in Las Vegas for cocaine possession in 2010. He eventually pled guilty to the felony and was required to pay a $2,000 fine, perform 200 hours of community service and complete a drug counseling course.

Bruno Mars is currently on tour to support his debut album Doo -Wops and Hooligans, with scheduled visits to Las Vegas, London, Amsterdam, Paris and the Bahamas just to name a few. This 2011 tour features GRAMMY nominee Janelle Monae, who is a singer, songwriter, dancer and performer from Kansas City. Her latest album The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III) is a concept album which showcases her eclectic musical range.
