Rihanna

The R&B singer and songwriter known only as Rihanna was born in Barbados in 1988 as Robyn Rihanna Fenty and released her debut album, Music of the Sun, in 2005. This album propelled the singer's career thanks to her hit song "Pon de Replay" which was featured on the Billboard Hot 100. Only a few months later, the singer released her 2nd studio album, A Girl Like Me, which made it into the top five of the Billboard albums chart. A Girl Like Me produced a number of top ten singles including "SOS", "Unfaithful" and "Break It Off".

Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna's 3rd album, featured five top ten hits and was nominated for nine Grammy Awards. By 2009, Rihanna had released her 4th album, Rated R, followed by her most recent album, Loud, released in 2010. Rihanna has sold more than 15 million albums worldwide and 45 million singles in her short career.

Rihanna has also gained widespread fame due to her troubled relationship with singer Chris Brown. In 2009 the singer was forced to cancel her Grammy performance, reportedly due to an altercation with her boyfriend who was arrested for criminal threats. The Hollywood gossip website TMZ later released police photos of Rihanna with visible injuries to her face, caused by Brown. The singer later pleaded guilty to the charges and received five years probation, plus a restraining order.

Rihanna embarked on her Loud Tour in 2011, which will visit over twenty countries throughout the Americas and Europe. Speaking of her concert tour, Rihanna said, "We're creating an incredible ride with this tour. I'm excited to get out on the road and share my new music from this album. We are going to have an amazing time and I know my fans are ready to get LOUD!"
