Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones are an English rock band with Mick Jagger on vocals, Keith Richards on guitar, Ronnie Wood on slide, lap and pedal steel guitars and Charlie Watts on drums. The Stones formed in 1962 and began as an R&B and blues cover band with their roots in classic rock and roll and inspired by the likes of Muddy Waters and other blues greats. The group became successful in the U.S. during the British Invasion of the 1960's and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

Throughout their career The Rolling Stones have released a total of 22 studio albums and sold over 200 million albums worldwide. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the group as the fourth "Greatest Artist of All Time" and in 2008, Billboard magazine ranked them at number ten on their "Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists". To this day, The Stones have released an incredible 90 singles plus numerous compilations and live albums.

The Rolling Stones most recent album, A Bigger Bang, was released in 2005 with critical acclaim and was followed by A Bigger Bang Tour the same year. This concert tour later became the highest grossing concert tour in history. For 2011, The Stones are planning their 50th Anniversary Tour which would feature the oldest member, drummer Charlie Watts, celebrating his 70th birthday during the tour.
