Combining a mix of rock, ballads and some musical theater, Styx became one of the most recognizable bands of the 1970s and 1980s with hits like "Lady", "Come Sail Away", "Babe" and "The Best of Times" among others. The group, which was formed in Chicago in the 1970s, has the distinction of releasing four consecutive multi-platinum albums from 1977 to 1981.

Current members of Styx include James "JY" Young on vocals, guitar and keyboards, Tommy Shaw on vocals, guitar, mandolin, autoharp and talkbox, Todd Sucherman on drums and percussion, Lawrence Gowan on vocals, keyboards and guitar, Ricky Phillips on bass and backup vocals and Chuck Panozzo on bass and bass pedals.

Styx's most recent studio album is entitled Big Bang Theory and was released in 2005. This album contains covers of popular rock and pop songs such as The Beatles' "I Am the Walrus", "Summer in the City" by The Lovin' Spoonful and "Find the Cost of Freedom" by Crosby Stills and Nash, just to name a few.

In 2010, Styx released Regeneration: Volume 1, a compilation of re-recorded classic Styx songs and one new track called "Difference In The World". In October of 2010, the group embarked on their The Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight Tour, where the newest compilation album was sold at every concert venue. The group is currently on tour with Yes, visiting cities throughout the United States and Canada.
