The Harlem Globetrotters is an exhibition basketball team, founded in 1926 in Chicago, Ill., that takes its mix of comedy, sports and athleticism around the world as part of their live show. The basketball team has played in a total of over 25,000 games and entertained everyone from the Pope to various Presidents. The first Harlem Globetrotter team consisted of kids who grew up together and attended Wendell Phillips High School in Chicago. Later on, the team began touring the U.S. and playing in exhibition games. The team began playing as the New York Harlem Globetrotters, since at the time, Harlem was considered the center of African-American culture in the U.S. Today, the Harlem Globetrotters continue to impress audiences of all ages with their impressive live show.
