Continuing with the "Movies Filmed in Las Vegas" series, we enter the 70s with 5 more movies on the list. The biggest stand-out on the list is the classic Godfather movie, starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino.












Diamonds are Forever 1971

This James Bond film takes Sean Connery's character to Las Vegas, where he uncovers an extortion plot. Filming locations include Black Rock Desert, Circus Circus, Fremont Street, the Las Vegas Hilton and other Sin City locations.


The Godfather 1972

One of the most memorable films of the 1970s features Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone and Al Pacino in the role of his reluctant son. The Godfather earned Brando an Oscar for Best Actor and also won best picture and writing in 1973.


The Gauntlet 1977

This action film, starring Clint Eastwood takes his character from Las Vegas to Phoenix, where he must escort a prostitute testifying in a mob trial.


Grand Theft Auto 1977

Grand Theft Auto was the first film directed by Ron Howard and was filmed almost entirely in Vegas. The story revolves around a couple looking to get married in Las Vegas and run into some trouble along the way.


The Electric Horseman 1979

Starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, The Electric Horseman is the story of a rodeo star who has been reduced to doing commercials in Las Vegas and decides to ride off into the desert. Filiming locations include Caesars Palace, the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding desert.
