Desperado Roller Coaster in Las Vegas

It opened in 1993 as one of the tallest coasters in North America. The Desperado mega coaster is a 225ft drop down a 55-degree descent and it soars at speeds of around 80 mph.

Designed as a hypercoaster for large drops and high speeds but no loops. The initial drop is good 200 ft and is followed by a series of them which scares the riders with heights and high speed turns that are unique to this coaster as it rolls throughthe tunnel to finish. Desperado is a wonderful coaster in the middle of nowhere.

For his Top Secret special, magician Lance Burton staged a death-defying escape in a stunt where he was tied to the roller coaster's track and had to break out of handcuffs in order to escape.
