adequate
I stayed in this hotel on my first trip to Vegas, as I wanted to spend my money on gambling not the hotel. It is adequate with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. The casino is a little small and crowded but you can't beat the location. If you just need a place to sleep and shower, you can't beat this hotel.
cheap
This is an ok place if you are not into comfort. It is a great location however. We have had trouble with reservations a couple of times so we have moved on to another hotel. All the times we were there there was alays trouble with the elevators, and air condition in room barely worked.
IMPRESSED!
We had a GREAT time here! Well worth the stay! Price was right for being center strip, the staff was VERY friendly! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!! I felt comfortable going down in the am before everyone was awake to drink my coffee and gamble a bit. Really enjoyed our stay!!!
better than ever since harrahs takeover
I must say that Imperial Palace has the best and cheapest location in Vegas on the strip. I usually get room rates for $29 or less. Since Harrahs bought this property a year or two ago I have noticed a better selection of restaurants. I love having fajitas on the 5th floor and breakfast up the escalator in the main casino.
Imperial Palace - Location, Location, Location
The Imperial Palace is for people who want to save money, be central on the strip, be near Casino Royale, Rockhouse, and the Monorail.
The Rooms - Don't expect extra fancy, the rooms are just that, rooms. If you want gold plated faucets, go elsewhere. The beds are comfortable, the water gets hot in the shower, what else do you need?
The Casino - Not typically crowded, dealers are very friendly. The "Dealertainers" (celebrity look-a-likes) are even more friendly, and if they are not engaged in a game, will take a picture with you.
The Location - Central to EVERYTHING on the Strip!!!! The bus picks up near Harrah's (next door), Casino Royale has the cheapest drinks on the strip (and a free slot game where I won $100. )
The Negative - To be fair, there is one negative to Imperial Palace. The Elevators are the slowest I have ever been in, and when I was there, typically only one or two work. (I have heard they are working to correct this, but I have not been back to verify)
All in all, I love Imperial Palace, it's affordable, fun, and central to everything!
BTW... Quesadilla, located by the sports book and karoke, is wonderful and affordable. The waitresses were very friendly.

Cheap and Entertaining
Imperial Palace is an ideal place to stay if you want Cheap and on the strip where all the action is.
I stayed at IP back in 2005 and it was a fun place to stay. The room was huge, the bed was comfortable, and I loved the bathroom because of it being so big. Never had any problems with the water or anything else while staying there for 3 nights.
The elevators where a little slow, but not bad. The atmosphere of the casino is always alot of fun where the Dealertainers are at the Black Jack tables. Watching them all parade out at night time also is pretty cool.
The buffet was ok, nothing to brag about as I have ate at a lot of better ones.
If you are a non-smoker though I would not stay in the casino much as it is quite musky smelling from the smokers, but this place is one of the older hotels on the strip.
You are right on the strip but the entrance is behind a rock n roll bar and you don't actually see it walking down the strip.
I would prefer to stay at one of the other Harrah's properties which is just a little bit higher and then go to IP to play some slots and watch the Dealertainers, or join them in a game of Black Jack!
The price is right!
For the price you can't beat the location. Where else can you play black jack with Alice Cooper or Stevie Wonder? The casino is smaller than other hotels, but it makes for a more intimate setting. Room was good, not extra fancy, but we are not there to spend time in the room...HELLO it's VEGAS. All in all we would stay there again.
Love it!
It might not be up there with Ceasars or Mandalay Bay but it is clean and central. The prices can't be beat and let's face it, you aren't in Vegas to spend time in your room! The staff is courteous and go out of their way to help you. Our stay there was so much fun we are going back again for the New Year week! Can't wait.
