Great Location and a Good Value
The Fremont Hotel offers a great location with an exciting atmosphere and an extremely good value. It’s just a few simple steps to 4 Queens, Binion's or Golden Nugget and everything else Fremont Street has to offer. Our room during a short stay last fall was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable, but a bit on the smaller side, especially the bathroom. But the room was stylish, fresh and completely adequate for a weekend, though I might start feeling cramped during a longer stay here. On this trip we stayed here for two nights then at the Venetian for five nights. The Fremont room had an always-appreciated wall safe, but strangely no flat-panel TV. Not sure why they would keep the old tube TVs after undergoing such nice renovations. We stayed on a higher floor facing Binion's and did not have any noise issues. No honking cabbies as I read about on other online reviews.
The public areas of the hotel and casino are decorated in the same style as the room, giving it a modern, sort of Asian feel. The sports book was large enough for me to kick back and enjoy myself for a couple hours of football on a Saturday morning. The table minimums are lower than on the strip and the casino was crowded and buzzing with activity that whole weekend.
Food choices at the Fremont Hotel are limited, but many other options are close by. We had breakfast at their Paradise Buffet and found it to be adequate. They did have a nice variety of food choices, but our waitress was rude and unfriendly and the restaurant décor was very dark and out-dated. The renovations definitely need to be extended to here. There are better buffets in more pleasant surroundings near by.
Despite our experience with the waitress, service at the Fremont was very good, especially from the housekeeper and front desk staff.
Overall, we had a blast staying here and definitely recognized the value it represents. Sign up for Boyd's B-Connected card and stay here for $31 on weekdays, $39 most Fridays and $51 most Saturdays. This is a steal for such clean, stylish rooms located right in the middle of all of the Downtown action.
