Decent place to stay
I have only stayed a few places in Vegas and I find the MGM to be a great middle of the road place to stay. It's got a great price, great staff, plenty of things to do, good variety of restaurants and outdoor pools.
If you are in Vegas to lounge in your hotel room you may not want to stay here for luxury. My stays (3 of them) have been in the Grand Tower. It's a basic hotel room with nothing fancy. It's more than adequate if you only plan to be in the room for sleeping and minimal hanging out. If you want luxury you may want to try some of their other, newer options.
This hotel is like a community within itself. There's high end and low end of everything here and it's very easy to get around. Check in seems intimidating in the massive lobby area but it goes quickly. If you arrive on a Friday or Saturday you are coming at a busy time so expect to stand in line for a little while. The staff do a great job of assisting guests and getting you through timely.
The pool area is nice and can be busy so plan ahead. The spa is great! Had a massage and hung out there for a while. It was very relaxing and smelled great too. Love the spa smell.
I've never been disapointed with my stays at the MGM. Very reasonably priced. Great location. Great ammenities. Great service. Great staff.
Hotel Mediocre, very crowded, pool VERY crowded
Price was very reasonable. This is a decent place to stay. The rooms were ok, clean, adequate, but nothing fancy. The lobby was very very crowded, like waiting in line at the DMV on Thursday night. The pool area was insanity, with every square footage of pool being taken up. The atmosphere was very much a party, not relaxing. But if you want to stay somewhere on a budget, the location is good and rooms are decent.
our recent stay...
Being a poker player for the past 18 years, I travel to Vegas extensively. This trip the whole family decided they wanTed to go. Unfortunately I let them make the reservations, and we ended up initially in a smaller hotel, known for there wings and restaurants. After one night there it was very easy to make the switch over to the 'MGM where I knew everyone would be more comfortable. The MGM just has so much to offer, all in one complex, that it saved the vacation. In addition we all played a lot of table games and video poker for fun. Four of us ended up ahead between 400 and 4000 bucks so it was very profitable as well.
The staff was great and the chicken ceaser salad in the restaurant next to starbucks was pricey but very good.
We will be back!
Ooh and with our play both rooms and all food was comped!
The right to change
On line 5/7/10, news letter promotion booked, MGM $55.00 a night for 1/2-3-4/11. Then later a $5.00 upgrade to get a Bunglow Sweet and prepaid the $61.50 taxes included. Nice, as she is an AM and me a PM, sleep without straining to hear the TV with two queens and large off set bath. Would have enjoyed at least a cup coffee maker and the heat vent not blowing directly on the bed but a great room for us. Our arrival was early, noon, and was allowed to checkin at once, no lines, 4TH floor close to the elevator was an added. Took time to update our players card but missed the complimentry drink credit or any coupons when doing so. We got all situated and decided to tour the Casino, Shops,Resturants and Show rooms to plan our stay; got lost twice, not sure if confusing floor plan or our sence of direction ? CSI expierence was fun altho seperating the 1-2-3 different clue area's was needed. As high end, what is this, food isn't our thing so the Resturants were skipped. Tried lots of new slots, low payouts and many contained playing for a chance just to play for any return; actually thought one was broken till told the $5.00 was just trying to play the game ? Was only able to catch one drink server in the 2 plus hours of play that was dissapointing. The ball buster was when the Visa bill arrived with a speed checkout charge = $191.52 to made our average room cost go from $61.50 to $83.37 and Customer service's offer of $9.00 plus credit of disputed total cost. Yes, I filed a dispute with the Card Company so we'll see the results in the future, just not see MGM or any of the family Hotels in the our future. Agree !
Wasnt able to check the place out
On my last trip to Las Vegas, I wasn't able to MGM Grand, the place looks great, one of my first places to go when I go back to Vegas.... hopefully this year
