Against All Odds
Can a blind man play poker? This years World Series of Poker has two blind assisted players in the field. One of them is a long time poker player named Hal Lubarsky. This is Hal's first World Series at Las Vegas appearance ever and is assisted at the table with his reader by his side who whispers his cards to him at they are dealt. Hal was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosis a degenerative disease that slowly takes your clear vision away, this is also the same degenerative isease that Steve Wynn has.
Hal has been a long time poker player in Las Vegas and can be seen playing in his favorite poker room the Mirage. In the Las Vegas poker circles so many players know Hal and can attest to his playing skills. Hal realized that his talents were not going to be hindered by what he thought was only a circumstance not a problem. He uses an extra set of eyes to assist him in his game and so far it has worked well for him and has kept him doing what he likes best and does well at for years.
Hal is sporting Full Tilt gear at the table and one has to wonder if Full Tilt saw something in Hal or did Hal see something in Full Tilt. As the tournament marches on it will be told.
As of the start of day seven commences Hal is now twenty eighth in the rankings with a chip count of 328K with only 808 players remaining from a field of 6538 entrants. Hal Lubarsky is sure to make the money today unless he runs into a train wreck. Today will be the first time all players will be playing under the same roof after 6 days of alternate play.
