Stu Ungar Biography
Stu Ungar was born in New York on September 8th 1953. He was arguably the best no-limit hold'em player of all time. At 15 he started his gambling career playing gin rummy, winning $10,000 in a tournament. His earnings pulled him out of school as he quickly realized he could make plenty of money playing the game. Stu later turned his attention to poker in Las Vegas. He won back-to-back The $10,000 Big One Championships in 1980 and 1981. In 1996 he took first in the main event again. Along with Johnny Moss, Ungar is the only other person to win three Poker Championship events and earned five bracelets. Unfortunately Stu was unable to fight his addiction to drugs and on November 28th 1998 he was found dead in his room at the Oasis Motel in Las Vegas.
