Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas

Lalique offers gorgeous crystal bowls, vases and platters. The rhinestone-studded shoes at Stuart Weitzman, with handbags to match, are the perfect complement to the most elegant evening wear. Estee Lauder's gold compacts, porcelain boxes and trinkets are relatively inexpensive and make nice gift items.

Automobile fans should be sure to stop in at Exotic Cars - a two-tiered retailer with 34,000 square feet of showroom space. The store houses more than 50 exotic cars and motorcycles with brands including Porsche, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin. Check out the remote-controlled racetrack, unique displays and a variety of merchandise including apparel, posters and model cars.

With hundreds of stores, restaurants and attractions, there's plenty to keep you busy for an afternoon. Weary shoppers can rest their feet and watch the statues "talk" at the Atlantis fountain show. People-watchers will get an eyeful at Planet Hollywood, although the mall itself abounds with the rich and the beautiful.

Go back even 10 years ago, and the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, were the highest of the high end shops.

Nowadays, many of the original shops remain, but the atmosphere at the Forum Shops has gone drastically downhill.

Next to Louis Vuitton, for example, is a gorgeous replica fountain. A tourists delight! However, directly next to the fountain, is an Everything $10 kiosk. A few meters past that is the Planet Hollywood restaurant...whose space, to be honest, should have been turned into a Frozen Yogurt store, ages ago. I'm surprised they're still in business. The place reeks of "has been".

A few feet from Planet Hollywood, is another fountain. This one is animatronic, lights up, plays music. Is dull, boring, and needs some fine tuning. It, too, is getting old.

A few feet from the fountain is a MAC cosmetics Pro Store. These Pro Stores, are few and far between. There is always a big crowd inside, but the music drowns out even the loudest of conversations, as well as the score to the fountain show outside of the store.

Walk further, and you've got Juicy, Sony, Anthropologie, Lucky Brand, Victoria's Secret.

If you head the opposite direction, you'll reach Izod, Burberry, Coach, Gap, Diesel, Dior, Fendi, and the Cheesecake Factory.

I recently took my 9 year old niece to the Forum Shops, and told her I would take her to the ice cream stand, and that she could watch the fountain show. She was delighted.

After watching the fountain show, for 2 or so minutes, she looked at me and said "can we go???" I bought her a salad at the food court in Caesar's, and we left. She was not impressed, and neither was I.

To be honest, as I walked around the first fountain mentioned, a strange, port-o-potty smell gagged me a bit.

Some Vegas relics, aren't what they used to be.
